Well, some may say this is a stupid thing to share, but hey. If there is only one person who benefits from this, then it was worth it.

I have a compartment in my kitchen which holds exactly two crates of sinalco, coke, beer or whatever drink crates. Usually I simply stack the crates inside to build a "shelf" inside, but there is an issue with that.

Having crates stacked with the opening horizontal causes the bottles to fall out easily. This happens when someone is bumping against the kitchen workspace or closes any door or drawer with more force than needed. The vibrations cause the bottle to move slowly to the front and eventually they fall out. Especially the empty ones tend to slide out and bounce loud on the floor, while you drag out a full one.

Before this, I used leftover furniture stands below the bottom crate to lift the front and keep them in place, but when moving the crate e.g. when replacing the upper crate the lower crate often slit down and the weight of both crates bumped to the bottom of the compartment causing multiple bottles to escape in a loud bang.

Well, you may say: Why using a 3D printer for this. Screw a wooden block into the cabinet and you are done. Yes, this may work for you, but not in my case. I would not be able to insert/remove the upper crate anymore, as the space at the front is limited. I also cannot use some kind of slide to move the boxes in and out, as there is a wooden frame behind the top of the door holding the workbench above. So I needed something removable.

However, this little holder fixed all issues for me and is a great helper. I remove it and can slide out the crates easily from storage and replace them. Afterwards I re-add the stand and the bottles stay where they are using gravity.

I printed in ugly Simpsons atomic green ABS as it was loaded and I am, lazy. PLA should work fine, too.

Please Note: One crate stand is not enough as over time the crates start deforming, so print two right from the beginning. I did that mistake, so don't repeat my mistakes.

It is quite stable now for years and there is no more bending, when using two stands. If you want to use this for three or more crates you for sure want to use three or more stands or widen the stand using the included source file, as the lowest box needs to carry the weight of all bottles above and the bottom crates handle is bending already a little with just one crate sitting on one stand. You could also scale the block sideways using the slicer to get a wider model.

The triangle left outs are just a cheap way to spare plastic without making the part weak. This is just a five minute design with FreeCAD and writing this text took far longer than designing it. So do not blame me for the cheap design. :)

Happy Printing.

Print Settings

Printer:

Anet A8

Rafts:

Yes

Supports:

No

Resolution:

0.2

Infill:

45%

Notes:

I printed in ABS.
