Simply Supported Beam for Engineering

Simply Supported Beam for Engineering

thingiverse

This is a simply supported beam with a fixed and roller support on each end printed as one piece. The supports rotate freely on a pin-like system. This is great for visualizing concepts in engineering mechanics (statics, strength of materials, etc.) such as: deflection, yield strength, etc. Great teaching tool or if you just want a cool novelty item to keep on your desk. If you are an engineering student or professor/teacher, THIS IS FOR YOU! Seriously though, take advantage of it you will learn more than one would expect. Let me know if there are any requests for different types of beams and maybe I will whip something up for ya and upload it. Enjoy:) Instructions Upload and make sure it is built with the supports facing up. Print with as much or as little infill as you desire. Best results if you have good bridging for the supports. Obviously more infill = stronger beam and vis-versa. So, one thing I did is experiment with the different infills to see how it effects the deflection and yield strength of the beam.
