3D Printed Singing Bulb without Hat (downward) 3/30/2021 - Zip File Version 1 This is my first attempt at making a 3d printed Singing Bulb without a hat. It holds the typical 12mm RGB pixels used in various light shows. This is different than my other bulb which had a hat. The complement to this is a "upward" bulb and is available in its own zip file from this same thingy. The zip files contain all the STL files for each bulb. I only showed a couple of the actual STL files here as I need to have some uploaded to make this an offical Thingy. Description: Each is composed of 27 separate pieces. (there are 2 test pieces used to test print and don't attach to the bulb). Most pieces are 6mm thick with a 2mm thick raised edge that is 10mm high. I believe this will be plenty strong and use less material than my previous attempt using 10mm thickness through out. The pieces that model the male end of the bulb are 10mm thick without raised edges. I hope this gives this area a differnt look. Except for one piece, the male end pieces are attached with a "hidden" circular dove tail. The one piece that isn't happens to be at a dovetail and I couldn't use this technique. Its approximate size is 777mm wide x 1076mm high (31in x 43in). It holds 149 pixels. I know it is a lot of pieces and may be complex to put together. I hope it is worth the effort! It was fun to make. I will probably convert my tree to the same 6mm thickness. Printer: Each piece is sized to fit on an Ender Pro printing bed (they fit in a 220x220 bed). Should be able to at least print several pieces at one time but this won't always be the case. I have tested printed pieces using PLA+ from GST3D. This stuff seems to print very nicely. To make the dove tailing work with a good fit, I do set the Horizontal Expansion to -0.21. I created several small "test pieces" so you could set up printer without wasting much material. XLights: I have not created a custom model for this as of yet. If you like doing that, I would be interested in seeing it! I think you will need some support for the pieces that make up the male end of the bulb. Enjoy. Appreciate any feedback. 4/5/2021 New Zip: Upward Siging Bulb sans Hat (V2) Updated the zip file to include a change to piece "Up Bulb 8." For some reason it was extruded at 10mm thickness. The STL for that part is also added by itself if you want just that 4/15/2021 Created and added Xmodels for both bulbs. Will be found in the respective zip files. 4/16/2021 Fixed part Up Mouth 2 for the Upward Singing Bulb. It was missing part of its raised border.
