Here is a proximity sensor mount and cooling fan mount/duct, designed for use with the MK8 extruder mount on the Sintron Prusa i3 printer build. The components were created using Tinkercad and can be printed with PLA. However, I highly recommend printing with PET+ filament instead, as it prints significantly better and appears to be stronger. Connecting fans and proximity sensors is relatively straightforward if you're using the Ramps 1.4 board. For the sensor circuit, a 2n2222 transistor and resistor configuration are used to control the output signal, which is then sent to the Ramps endstop circuit. This design was inspired by the project found on Thingiverse (447719). When wiring up your NPN or PNP sensors, be extremely cautious with regard to polarity and connection quality. I also discovered that connecting the sensor directly to a 12VDC power source yielded better results compared to utilizing the Z-endstop connector, which is only 5VDC. I experienced an issue where the original z-sensor mount required continuous z-homing monitoring. To resolve this, I designed a second sensor mount for attachment to the back of the x-carriage using two M5 screws. This adjustment enables me to have safe homing in the XYZ order with consistency.
