Skew Test
thingiverse
This is a quick test to see if you have an issue with skew caused by a skipped tooth. Symptoms are that the printer makes more whirring noise and parts have different width to height dimensions, like a skewed square. To conduct this test, print the model with the widest part perpendicular to the axis you want to check (as seen in the overhead view). Test each part by fitting one inside the other as shown in the images. This method was used on a Flashforge Creator Pro with a standard 2mm tooth pitch and yielded a significant error. The issue can be resolved by carefully removing the belt from its pulley on one side using nose pliers, wiggling it slightly, then replacing it to correct any misalignment. Luck played a part in this fix, as it corrected the problem without further intervention required.
