SW Skiff-Class Cygnus Trainer [Fan Concept] 1/270 scale Cygnus Spaceworks used some technology developed for its line of popular shuttles such has the Lambda-Class T-4a to create a trainer that offered a genuine galactic travel experience for future pilots ready to step out of the simulator and fly solo. The Cygnus Trainer looked like a small craft, yet it was equipped with all conventional starship apparatus to support every training routine leading to a pilot’s certification. The craft offered: two light laser canons sufficient to disable target drones, a class 1 Hyperdrive, a robust shield optimized to protect it from FOD and mishap, rudimentary accommodations that could, with a stretch, host a passenger on a long journey or an instructor for a short exercise. It was also complemented with an astonishing array of sensors and communication devices. Furthermore, what was unique to this ship, was its navigational computer which stood in a class of its own. Design to support space cadet’s long solo mission, the NavComp was able to autonomously perform complex maneuvers, follow the most intricate space routes and could load a far larger amount of vectored data then what was possible even on a capital ship. All this meant that several emergency hyperspace jump were constantly being computed and available at the push of a button if needed. Hence, if the inexperienced pilot made a mistake and found him or herself in a bad location, it was possible to evade swiftly or even engage a return home routine, provided the skiff could rotate and face a clearing sufficient to allow the HS jump. While the RZ-1T A-Wing and Incom’s T-16 Skyhopper were great pilot trainer, the Skiff-Class was intentionally created to develop the Galaxy’s best navigational officers. Often found in prestigious space academies in the Core Worlds, some crafts did end up in the hands of freelance intelligence agents that saw a great fit to their needs. The bells and whistles rich, nimble and almost autonomous spaceship was a few illicit upgrades away from being perfect to them. Hence, decades later when several of these agents started to support the growing First Order, Sienar-Jaemus Fleet Systems was commissioned to build a modern version of this craft with adequate military specs. This led to the Xi-Class Light Shuttle design. The model is about 50 mm long, a touch larger than the FO Xi-Class Light Shuttle. Can be used to proxi that craft in the Galactic Civil War era.
