Skyscraper Chess Set

I designed this chess set because I wanted a cool tower chess set and the sets available on Thingiverse at the time didn't meet my preferences. The skyscrapers are models of real-world towers that have either been constructed, are in the process of being constructed, or were designed but never constructed. I chose these specific towers based mainly on their height relative to each other, more or less matching the proportions of regular chess pieces. King: Kingdom / Jeddah Tower Queen: Burj Khalifa Bishop: Shimao Shenzhen-Hong Kong International Center Knight: Shanghai Tower Rook: Goldin Finance 117 Pawn: Guangzhou CTF Finance Centre Each piece is designed with a hollow base if you prefer to add weight and want to felt your pieces. Errors may occur when loading the chess pieces into a slicer but they print just fine. The board, unlike most I found on Thingiverse, is designed to stay together as one piece after assembly. The dovetail tolerances on the board base are far from perfect, they fit together very snuggly, but the board is fairly strong once fully assembled. There are two tile variations: one is plain and the other mimics carbon fiber (much cooler!). I have not tested it but I believe the carbon fiber pattern works much better on a flat glass print bed which is what I use. The board requires: 1 'center piece' 2 'edge in' pieces 2 'edge out' pieces 4 corner pieces 8 'edge connector' pieces 64 tiles I suggest printing 2 of the corners upside down so you have all print-bed sides facing the same direction once assembled. You may also print 4 of the 'edge connector' pieces upside down for the same reason. To assemble the board: - attach 2 corners to the short sides of each of the 'edge in' pieces - attach both 'edge out' pieces to opposite sides of the 'center piece' - attach the first 2 assemblies to the third assembly - slide the 8 edge connectors over the exposed dovetail connections - snap all 64 tiles into place Optional additional board assembly: - print a few extra tiles and glue felt to the flat sides then snap them onto the underside of the board. This is to protect your table from scratches from the board.
