Skywatcher Mak127 Solar Filter

Skywatcher Mak127 Solar Filter

thingiverse

A simple solar filter for the Skywatcher Skymax Maksutov-Cassegrain 127mm. To prevent irreversible eye damage, make sure to use original Baader AstroSolar Safety Film (the only certified one). After printing, you need to add a piece of Astrosolar film. Glue the washer to the film with a good quality glue, and make sure that the film is not completely smooth (it stretches in the heat of the sun and should be left slightly loose to prevent breakage during use). Once dry, cut the excess film and apply glue to the inner edge of the main piece. Glue the washer to it leaving the film between them. Finally, stick two small strips of 1mm thick EVA Foam on the inside walls of the main piece. This holds the filter firmly to the telescope and prevents it from falling off. Make the same thing with the cover for the filter. Always check that the film has no tears before use!
