This AR mag holder will hold both steel magazines and Magpul plastic mags. The steel mags can sit base up or base down both loaded or empty. the Magpul will need to sit feed lips down but can be loaded or empty. I tested multiple brands of magazines for fitment and bumped sizing to accommodate all that I had and allow them to slip in and out easily. I tested Magpul Gen 2 & 3, Gov issue steel magazines, Colt, H&K, Palmetto, CMMG 22 conversion mags, and several others. The Palmetto's were the tightest of all of them. If you have something else that is a bit tight, just bump up the scaling 1% when you slice it and it should be fine. The base has a 7-8 degree offset from the slat wall to accommodate the curve of the magazines, it keeps them in close to the wall and not hanging out to get snagged on when walking by. Again, my slatwall is MDF type with no reinforcing incerts in the slats. These sit snug for minimal movement when loading or unloading and dont wobble around in the slat. Enjoy.
