Slider Box Generator
thingiverse
Update: 5-31-2019: fixed the .scad file to work better with Customizer guidelines, thanks for your feedback! I'm always on the lookout for containers that don't follow standard size rules. Slider boxes are great because they're self-contained and easy to use without adding complexity. This is my first customizer experience, having used OpenSCAD for a long time, but now I'm taking advantage of the new May 2019 version's customizer interface - check it out at openscad.org! If you create one, show me what you've made! I'd love to see your design. Please like, follow, and SHARE! If you love it, tell everyone! If you don't like it, take a moment to reflect on why and maybe you'll appreciate it more after some serious thinking. Then share how much you like it! All sizes are in millimeters (mm). You can add extra strength to the walls and sides if needed, but 3-4mm is usually sufficient. I prefer 4 for its balance of strength and lightness. For wiggle room, consider your 3D printer's precision and filament quality - smaller boxes benefit from slightly more room (like .2mm) while larger ones can get away with less (like 0.1mm). I find 0.1875 works well for most small to mid-size boxes. If you have a highly precise printer, you might be able to use minimal wiggle room. This customizer creates two objects: the slider box and the top. If you only want to print one (maybe you lost the lid), you can separate them in layout software like Slic3r.
With this file you will be able to print Slider Box Generator with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Slider Box Generator.
