Sliding Door Security Bar Clasp

Sliding Door Security Bar Clasp

thingiverse

The clasp broke on my sliding glass door's security bar - it could lay in place like it should, but there was nothing preventing someone/something from listing the bar. I started by emulating the broken piece in Tinkercad, but extruded PLA is stiffer and more fragile than injection-molded ABS, so I made adjustments to make it easier to use and to keep it from breaking. When I printed it vertically; the arms snapped off (between layers). I printed it horizontally; the base snapped (also between layers). I finally printed it on its side with supports so that the layers were running in the one direction it doesn't need to bend, and it hasn't broken yet (it's been 5 months).
