Slim Hex Bit Holder (Parametric)

Slim Hex Bit Holder (Parametric)

prusaprinters

I designed my hex bit organizer around a short hinge that clamps the bit in place and provides a consistent and user friendly fit.   No more bits that fall out or require pliers to pry out.  I have included stl files for anyone that does not want to use CAD.  They have 4 perimeters of 0.4 mm for the hinge thickness, 10 mm clamp height, and a 6.4 mm bit size (measured from parallel sides of the hexagon).  You can alter the tightness of the fit by scaling the X and Y axes in your slicer, and you can hold taller or shorter bits by scaling the Z-axis. I have included the f3d file for anyone wanting a fully custom bit holder.  The correct size will be determined by a combination of the bit manufacturer, printer tolerances, slicer settings, and filament stiffness.  Therefore, I have included a tolerance test with five sizes ranging from 6.2 mm to 6.6 mm (by steps of 0.1 mm) with some text labels on the side.  You can also make your own test by editing the provided f3d file.  All of the parameters have descriptive comments and should be easy enough to figure out.  Edit only the starred variables for best results.  You will need to manually rerun the last combine and fillet operation. Thanks for visiting, and enjoy!
