This is a project for a Slimline PC Computer Case or Enclosure. Please download the attached ZIP file for the SOLIDWORKS CAD files. The component models in the assembly for the motherboard, GPU, etc should be very accurate if you would like to use them for other purposes This was my Engineering Design 3 project in 2011 for my Junior Year The objective we set was to create a slim case using the relatively new MiniITX motherboard format. The unique thing about this case was the idea of using a 90 degree PCIe riser intended for servers, and cramming at least 300W worth of electronics into a really small thin form factor- case thickness must be under 2.5 inches. At the time there weren't really any cases like this, now it seems to be becoming a more popular size format. We built a proof of concept model using plywood and cardboard and used this to perform some thermal and acoustic testing with different designs. We then detailed out the winning design concept in SOLIDWORKS A laser/sheet metal shop actually volunteered to produce our case at no cost. I knew very little about sheet metal design at this period of time so it was a great learning experience to be able to work closely with a vendor that had these capabilities We ended up hitting all our requirements and system goals. Also, the project was featured as a Mod of the Day on the website [H]ardOCP.com If you would like to learn more about this project, feel free to watch the attached YouTube video, and download the project PDF.
