Slip-on Rover Treads

Slip-on Rover Treads

thingiverse

A parameterized model for generating "slip-on" treads for the wheels of the Sawppy Rover, although these could easily be adjusted to fit over the wheels of other robots of similar diameters. Parameters are called out at the top of the file and can be tuned to adjust the base and tip diameter of the "nobbles" on the tread, along with distribution along the circumference and width of the tread. So, you could have a lot of little spikes or a few big fat cones or even square-ish treads if you were to change the $fn parameter in the tread generator function. A pseudo-random function controls how each row of treads is distributed across the width of the wheel. I wrote this up as part of a larger project to develop an "Airless" tire for my Sawppy-alike rover.
