Small Arcade Tactile Button Cap and Case

Small Arcade Tactile Button Cap and Case

We needed buttons that worked with a 12mm x 12mm x 8mm Tactile Button Switch that would look better than the standard caps they came with and would be easy to insert into a control box. We liked the arcade button style, but we didn't want them quite so big... plus we found that too wide of a button didn't work well with the button switch. We remixed a design we liked, making the button smaller and able to snap onto the button switch. The piece that holds the switch is attached to the encasement, and the encasement is threaded so that it can be set into the box panel and tightened into place with the nut (like a standard arcade button). Also included is the STL file for the box panel to insert the button. In order to make the button encasement printable without supports, the lip that rests on top of the box is chamfered underneath. I also added 4 small extensions so that the encasement can be seated into panel's slots. You can use the panel STL to blend into your box. The panel is 2mm thick. This actually inspired making individual box pieces, which I used to blend our box for this project. I'm hoping to add that to Thingiverse soon! (I will replace this with a link when that's done)
