Hello

I made this model to promote sustainability and to prove that you can live more ecologically even in a small flat or without fancy equipment. It's a Vermicomposter/normal-composter printable on a Prusa i3 with a maximum size in mind. Unfortunately, I don't have the capability to print this model myself right now so if anyone makes it, please send me some photos…

(some kind people on Reddit offered to print and test the model, so photos hopefully coming soon)

If you don't know anything about vermicomposting, I would suggest watching this video first

<oembed url="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V8miLevRI_o"></oembed>

Everything should be printable without supports. I would suggest printing in PETG but I have seen this video which proves that even PLA should be sufficient.

The whole thing is designed with vermicomposting and Indore/small-scale composting in mind… These are the base parts:

Slanted bottom reservoir, used for capturing liquid from tho compost which can be used for example to water houseplants. If you don't believe in your prints being waterproof, I would suggest coating the inside of this reservoir with epoxy resin.

Compost bin, its the actual box you put food scraps and other biowaste in. For vermicomposting, I suggest printing 2 of these boxes with holes on the bottom. This video explains well how to use a vermicomposter with the same concept in mind.

Lid, well, that's self-explanatory. Helps with odours and keeps unwanted friends away…

The Plug, here you have two options: the first is to use the printable plug from the files and using it to drain the reservoir, the second option is to use a standard water dispenser faucet with a 12mm thread such as this one. With both options, I advise using a 12-16 mm gasket to prevent leaking.

The legs, just slide them into place and they keep the slanted reservoir level. (and I think that they also look really cool)

Optional parts, include bigger volume compost bins and vent-less options.

Thanks for using my model and I hope that we can make the world a better place together by living more sustainably… step by step.
