Smart phone, Iphone minimalistic car holder using Velcro

Everybody has bought one of these heavy, clumsy, fragile universal car smartphone holder. While driving a rental in sunny CA 2 years ago, I had to buy one. I prefer my Smartphone GPS. Too bad, it kept falling, poor suction cup and anyway it was overheating. Tried to mount it in the vent. Almost broke the vent while struggling to install, remove the smartphone. Overall a pain to use and store in your bag. Back home, I decided I needed something effective, simple, I could carry everywhere. Note that using the vent is fine except during winter, watch for the heat !!!!! The part should be made with PETG or ABS. Degrease well for good adhesion. You better use the type of self grip as seen on the picture. The regular Velcro one is OK but doesn't hold as well. On the smartphone stick a 10X20 piece about the center. Have been using it from Texas to Ontario and in Europe on different rentals in the last 2 years. If you drive aggressively, a rubber band around the longer part can help limit sliding. :) Profile could be made to fit some typical vents but so far, I found this to be ok. Make a few you can put in your travel bags so you will never miss it. Can even be used as a stand.
