Modification of metric M4 leadscrew on Z-axis involves changing mounting points to match larger lead diameter requirements. Upgrade entails precision measurement and machining for precise thread fit. Care must be taken when cutting screw holes as M8 threads are significantly longer than M6. Lead nut bore diameter remains unchanged but the pitch circle is relocated inwardly. Leadnut support bearing may also need modification, depending on machine configuration.
