A colleague at work is a sports diver and I helped him print this snoot for the flash on his underwater camera. It fits on a Subtronic Pro160 flash, and helps focus the light on the object. He has used it in fresh- and salt water at 25 m depth and it helps produce really nice pictures. It's printed in three parts; body, lid and focus pipe. The lid and pipe is then glued together with ABS glue or black ABS dissolved in acetone. We made it this way to make it print easier. Print Settings Printer Brand: LulzBot Printer: Mini Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0,2 - 0,4 mm Infill: +20% Notes: Print in black ABS. This is to keep the inside as dark as possible. Put a brim on the snoot body to increase it's surface area if you have problems getting it to stick. The geometry is simple so the choice of resolution It's just a matter of how quick and smooth you want it to print. Post-Printing How to assemble: The lid and light tube needs to be glued together. On most printers the first layer will be slightly squished, so it's advisable to sand the edge of the lid's inner hole ligthly in order for the focus tube to fit through easier. Use a fine grit sandpaper. Be careful so you don't rip of any layers. Apply ABS glue or black ABS dissolved in acetone with a small brush to the recessed surface on the inside of the lid and on the tube's brim. Press togther for a couple of minutes and let it set for a few hours. Also apply som glue/ acetone around the seams to provide additional addhesion. Once the lid has cured it can be screwed onto the snoot body. Tie a piece of elastic coord through the holes at the end of the snoot. This is so that the snoot can easlily be removed and attached from the flash when underwater.
