Soil Block Maker

thingiverse

This is a 2" x 2" x 2" soil block maker for starting seeds. It features a 5/8" insert where seeds can be planted. In a bowl or bucket, use seed starting soil and add water so that it clumps together. With the piston up, push the soil blocker into the soil then transfer the soil to a tray. Push the piston down to extrude the soil block. Insert seeds (typically 2 or 3) into the center of the soil block and loosely cover them with soil by collapsing the hole. Transfer the soil block directly to the garden once the plants have grown and are ready to transplant. It is recommended to print the piston on its side using supports. The block can be printed without supports. To keep the piston from falling out of the block portion, rotate it 90 degrees just after inserting through the rectangular slot in the block.
