Get ready for the eclipse on August 21st 2017! Always be safe when viewing the sun through a telescope. NEVER leave the equipment unattended and make sure your filter is secure before pointing the telescope at the sun. Always inspect your filter for damage before use. This is a solar filter cell for an Explore Scientific ED80 telescope but the filter should work for other 80mm scopes. Inner diameter of the cell is 128mm. Space between the inner wall and screw holes is 11mm. Designed with Onshape.com. Printed with .4mm layer height and 25% infill using Maker Geeks 1.75mm Maker Series PLA at 235c. Materials Needed: SolarLite solar film from Thousand Oaks 4x M3x12 button head screws 4x M3 lock nuts I also used two pieces of thin foam on either side of the filter material to protect it. I used yellow for the outside part but I recommend using a dark or black for the inside part to block out light.
