Re-remixed third hand for soldering wires

This version has an adjustable distance between the clamps, as well as some internal weights inside the base in order to hold everything steady.

The weight makes abig difference!

The base uses two 80x40x2mm metal bars which are pretty common in hardware stores.

Sizing is not critical: anything that doesn't exceed the internal 80x40x4mm volume will do.

A single 80x40x2mm steel bar didn't feel hefty enough.

Printing and assembly

Print 2x Jim_Solder_Fingers_Jaw_Rotating.stl

Print 2x Jim_Solder_Fingers_Jaw_Static_mod.stl

Print 2x Jim_Solder_Fingers_Jaw_base_mod.stl

Alternatively, Jim_Solder_Fingers_Jaw_full.stl contains all parts.

After printing, slide the metal bars inside one end of the base. If the fit is not tight I would recommend to add a dab of hot glue before adding the second in order to avoid pieces coming loose.

The base has two thin legs to avoid wobble which will get you started. However I still added four thin rubber pads to avoid sliding.
Category: Electronics
