Now you can use your 3D printr to save even more money by buying a $50 protoboard and surgically implanting a $10 protoboard off Amazon to get the equivalent space of a $100 protoboard with the help of this Thing! I needed a protoboard/breadboard with 4 boards for a project, and accidentally bought the 3 board model for half the price not realizing it only had 3 boards, so I hacked up a single board I had lying around, and with the added support this structure provides, I was able to connect it to the breadboards that came with the 3-board protoboard using their dovetail-like mounts. It also has a little handle thing for modularity to add additional structures later. For example: the circuit pictured is a multi-input amplifier so I can connect my guitar, an iPod for background music, a microphone if someone wants to do some karaoke, and there is also an area that is impedance matched for a record player to make some sweet Beatles covers. I plan on adding a structure for headphone/input jacks and such so I don't have to have messy wires coming out of my guitar, but you can make a structure for whatever you want. It's totally rad dude! Instructions I printed mine in black ABS at 15% infill (the magic number for minimal, but solid top layer coverage), 2 shells, and .2mm layer height. This part will probably be around with me for a while so I chose ABS, as well as the fact that fitting things together is a little easier with ABS. PLA should work though. I'm not going to go into detail on how to do aftermarket modifications to your protoboard, but you can use this Thing to support adding on a fourth board to the 3 board protoboard model similar to this:http://www.alliedelec.com/search/productdetail.aspx?SKU=70012450 Modifying your board will most likely void your warranty, but if you don't care, then take a knife and cut the foam padding underneath along the seams that join the "power rails" to the main prototyping area. Be careful, knives are sharp (or should be.. after all, a sharp knife is a safe knife). Basically just dissect the protoboard in a way that makes sense to connect to your other one and there you go. Protoboard surgery. If you have an extra power rail, just put it up above like in the pictures (It had only one up there stock).
