Solenoid Valves, 2 Ways 2 Positions, 3 Ways 2 Positions, 5 Ways, 2 PositionsQuick connect fittings will be added later.Commonly used in pneumatics and automation industry.A 2 Way 2 Position Valve can be used to open/close the flow of something.Imagine an automatically opening and closing kitchen or bathroom faucet, drain, etc...It has a total of 2 ports.A 3 Way 2 position valve can be used to actuate a single acting cylinder. It has a total of 3 ports.i.e. Step 1It pressurizes the cylinder to actuate it.Step 2It releases air that is behind the piston to the exhaust port.Step 3A tension spring retracts the cylinder.A 5 Way 2 position valve can be used to actuate a double acting cylinder. It has no spring to retract it and so it needs pressurized air on the opposite side of the piston to retract it.It has a total of 5 ports.i.e.Step 1It pressurizes the cylinder to actuate it.Step 2An exhaust port in front of the piston releases trapped air.Step 3The port in front of piston is pressurized to retract it.Step 4The exhaust port behind the piston releases trapped air.Valves come in configurations of 12V DC, 24V DC, 110V AC, 220V AC. I prefer 24V DC for universal compatibility reasons. I can use a 110/220V AC to DC power supply and then switch input voltages depending on where I am in the world. In theory though solenoids with higher voltages and same power output should heat up less than solenoids with lower voltages and same power output. Since amperage contributes to heat and therefore efficiency losses, the higher voltage solenoids should be more reliable in terms of holding power during longer power on cycles (in theory at least).Parts below come with various BSPT quick connect sizes.
