Sony Vaio LVDS Plug Clip

Sony Vaio LVDS Plug Clip

My Sony Vaio was getting black screens and when I opened I checked that the LVDS cable (the one that connects the screen to the motherboard) was getting loose. My first attempt was just to press it, making the screen work again for a couple of weeks. Then the screen went black again, but this time I designed a simple clip and printed it. After printing a couple to get the correct size (didn't have the right tools to measure + not so precise printer), I put the clip on the loose side of the plug (2nd photo). Voila! Several months have passed and the screen is still working. Saved me hundreds from specialized support. This is probably the most valuable piece I ever printed! (and a easy answer to all those "what you do with a 3d printer??") As each laptop are different, the supplied clip will hardly fits. I suggest to change the design, size, etc (included blend file for referece).
