I replaced **ALL** files with the best versions so far. This is a LOT closer to one that can be printed and actually assembled! The build-photos are from the prev version. Will be posting better pic as I print and assemble the new parts. Also, I added some parts to make the booster. You will need a total of 34 rings, where 31 are the basic ring segments, 2 are the slotted fin rings, and one is the Grid ring at the top. I need a decent model of a Raptor so I can re-do the engines on both models. ------------------------------- I got kind of fed up at the various models available, and felt that a simple cut-up of a nice model doesn't do the source material (or the modeller) justice. So here is MY take on someone else's work. The only originality here is in the actual ring segments, and how I modified the various other bits to fit with my desired assembly methods. I also changed the dimensions of the rear control surfaces a smidge, cuz reasons. This kit should be pretty easy to modify as needed, to keep up with design changes as they happen. The model will be composed of A generic ring segment (printed 20 times or so) Top, Mid, and Bottom tank bulkhead rings Crewed & cargo nose options Engine Mount Ring Landing Gear (someday?) and the various movable control surfaces (at 1:100 scale, arduino and servos are real considerations!!). NOTE: ** I HAVE NOT PRINTED THIS (but it should work) ** This is not a snap together kit. You will need all the usual kit & gear for building a nice model. If you actually build it, please be sure to post a make! When you print, I strongly suggest you print at the default scale (100% = 1:100) unless you have a tiny nozzle installed. My MP Mini has a 0.2mm nozzle and I can theoretically downscale to 50% but leaves a way-too-thin single wall / vase-print. This has been tested an verified. So you have the parts... time to build the body. Start stacking as shown (designed to be stacked from the bottom up, or in sections as they do in Boca Chica). Pay attention to the vertical weld line on the rings. The weld is on the cool-side during re-entry. 1x Starship-Nose-Crewed (or cargo) 5x Starship-Rings 1x Starship-Ring-TankSegment-Top 3x Starship-Rings 1x Starship-Ring-TankSegment-Mid 6x Starship-Rings 1x Starship-Ring-TankSegment-Bot 1x Starship-Rings 1x Starship-Rings-EngineMount Insert 1x Starship-Engines into the engine mount from underneath. Now build the front and rear control surfaces, paying attention to left & right sides!!! The original designer's source model is available here at the links below: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4309693 and here https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-starship-model-kit-115971 but Thingiverse is having a brain-dead moment and not letting me link to his model as a remix. He also has the Super Heavy booster, which *should* be compatible. My wishlist of remixed parts: clear windows Detailed crew areas Landing gear Split the engines and cargo into distinct components. Rework how the control surface mounts integrate with the ring segments. I do not like the tab-in-slot thing happening. Maybe put part of the mounts on the associated ring when printed... ? More! A reminder: There are certainly going to be issues, and I'm fixing them as I find them. case in point, I was testing a piece with the integrated tank... yeah, no. Those parts are being changed to be simple (though slightly modified) ring segments. With the tank bits available as an option, but not required. Should make faster prints, too. um... also pay close attention when installing the control surface mounts. The tabs/slots are NOT on the centerline of the model.
