Speaker Port Horns - 50mm

I made some really short horns for the ports on my subwoofer. Mine didn't have these already and buying some didn't make a lot of sense given I could make them.

These fit a port with a 50mm diameter. Because my subwoofer is already ported I didn't attempt to mess with port length or any of that and focused instead on smoothing out the airflow as it exited the port. Given that the previous exits had nothing apart from the sharp transition it was sometimes possible to hear some raspiness. So at least in that regard these seem to work very well.

I tested this with Underworld's “Dirty Epic” which has a really deep bass line and it sounded great.

Printing Tips

Don't used my sliced file. Slice your own using a nozzle size you have available.

I think these would look nicer using a smaller .4mm nozzle. I used a .8mm and the layer lines are super obvious. I suppose there's a chance the texture helps reduce turbulence on exit, but I'm not an audio engineer.

I very intentionally printed these horn up with supports for the lip. Because I used a fillet to create the horn, I didn't want supports to come in contact with that area.
