Speaker Stand Knob (5/16 bolt)

Speaker Stand Knob (5/16 bolt)

I've used this model twice now for repairing speaker stands, one that had a broken knob and the other that had a stripped screw. The knob requires a 5/16 bolt (both times I've used a 2 inch bolt for the stands I've repaired).

The tolerances are intentionally tight. After printing the model the bolt is screwed into the knob most of the way and then the hex head of the bolt is heated with a torch until the knob can be slipped the rest of the way down the bolt.

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

XYZprinting

Printer:

da Vinci Jr. 1.0 Pro

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.3

Infill:

90%

Filament:
[

XYZware PLA ](http://www.amazon.com/s?url=search-alias&field-keywords=XYZware+PLA&tag=thingiverse09-20) White

Notes:

Printed as solid as possible, as I wanted it to be sturdy.

Post-Printing

Use a pair of needle nose pliers to remove the supports, then screw a 5/16 bolt into the knob most of the way, and then heat the hex head of the bolt with a torch until the knob can be slipped the rest of the way down the bolt and into the recessed section of the knob.

How I Designed This

A pair of calipers to take measurements, Sketchup to design the model.

Category: Parts
