Spherical Meso Material

Spherical Meso Material

thingiverse

The Meso Material (mm scale material) consists of a sphere composed of orthogonal circles, forming a cartesian grid with non-touching balls when spaced apart. Physically, the balls will touch and display springy characteristics, providing unique properties. If you plan to publish, copyright, or patent this design, please contact me. To utilize this material, use the balls4.scad file for Customizer and OpenSCAD runs, alongside the corresponding output file of balls4_3-3-3.stl (a 3x3x3 version of balls4.scad). Other files remain included for reference purposes only. Shapeways reported successful prints with the provided specifications, including a minimum feature size of approximately 1.4mm. However, due to design rule violations, earlier files were printed less frequently. Balls4.scad file uses a minimum feature size and larger ball sizes, resulting in higher costs. The printable shape is available in my Shape Ways account (user ID same as Thingiverse: CreatorLes) or can be uploaded to any compatible printer using your own STL file. Please note that the balls are not attached to each other and have a small clearance, making them unsuitable for MakerBot printers without modifications.
