See in action at http://youtu.be/8uS5_aBJgZs . Here's a spheroid bearing I designed to fit over 1" pvc pipe. The spheroid shapes helps keep the alignment, and the sleeve keeps it all together. It rolls well and appears to be able to take heavy loads. . I designed the tolerances so you can print all the moving parts in one print without support structures. Then print 2 of the sleeves to fit over the ends. . Feel free to modify to suit your purposes. Whatever you create, please cite this as the source. . See instructions for more info. Instructions For best results, print with a layer height of .1mm. Do not use support structures. Combined printing time for me was approximately 12 hours. . Choose infill based on how much weight will be on these. I printed the one pictured with 16 percent infill, but I plan on increasing this to 60 percent for load-bearing versions. . Print SpheroidBearing.stl. This file may take a LONG time to slice. . Print 2 copies of SpheroidBearingSleeve.stl. . Use pliers to gently break any bearings that are sticking. . Insert sleeves in both ends. They should stay attached by friction. . You can try adding vegetable oil or other liquids as lubricant. . Slide 1" pipe inside as an axle. . Alter the outside of the bearing to suit your purposes. Whatever you create, please cite it as a remix of this.
