Spool base
youmagine
A handy little flat base to prevent a spool of filament from rolling around. It comes in two versions: one where the dimensions depend on the size of the spool you want to place inside, and another where you specify the base's dimensions - this version doesn't have any side walls. The last one I used was to turn a filing cabinet drawer into a compartment for storing filament spools. When printing with a fill density of less than 100% in Cura (no experience with other slicers), it seems to slice this design so that the bottom of the spool indent is only one layer thick, resulting in imperfect prints. That's why I made the base hollow with just a thin wall that should be printed at 100% fill density and supported - there's no need to remove the supports after printing. The scad file can be used on its own or included in another scad file so you can call the spoolbase module with your own parameters. If using it alone, set the parameters at the top of the file; the defaults are those for my Ultimaker 2's original spool.
