The spool screw was designed to be a universal insert to save cost and waste.
I found that I was wasting a lot of filament spools and spoolless filament is often cheaper. So I designed this simple insert instead of buying a reusable spool.
Simply cut an empty spool in half, measure the inner diameter and scale to the right size. The pieces press into place. I tried to make the tolerances forgivable but you may need to print the screw 1-3% smaller.
