I needed a sleek spool holder that wouldn't clutter up my desk. Some designs were mounted on top of the printer, while others sat beside it on a desk - it all seemed like unnecessary complexity to me. I just wanted something simple and efficient that could hold a 1kg spool without taking up too much space. The spool holder I came up with straddles the filament drive, keeping it compact and out of the way. You can attach it in front or behind the printer, depending on your preference. A 7/16" diameter x 3" long bolt secures the spool to the support. If you want, you can add a guide to the bottom of the printer to redirect the filament as needed.
