Sprag clutch bearing

Sprag clutch bearing

I wanted a sprag clutch/bearing for a project, seeing there weren't many of these out there, i thought i'd challenge myself to creating one! This prints perfect on my FLSUN Q5, 0.2mm layers. Literally spun and engaged off the bed! my goal was to make something with a very low amount of backlash and I have definitely achieved that! Its probably a couple of degrees before it locks in place, which is awesome. Dimensions are 32mm OD and a 4mm hex shaft to drive in the centre. Can easily be drilled out to 4.5-5mm round shaft due to the locking nature of the sprag clutch. Printed at 125% the Drive shaft is 5mm and OD is 40mm if you need it to be even beefier. Do NOT use any lube in these, as they work off the natural friction in the print. as soon as you add any lube they are basically useless, there will always be a small amount present, enough to make these slip! You can wash these in just water after you've run them in a bit, but let them dry completely as the lubricating effect of the water will cause them to slip.
