Spring adapter for MK6 Thumb/Normal screw plunger

thingiverse

This OpenSCAD script will generate a plunger to be used to hold the Thumbscrew in place and prevent it from workign it's way out during a print It is heavily based on JMZ's "Spring adapter for MK6+ plunger" It differs from Jmz's design in that it has a spring recess to fit the kind of spring used in 4xAA battery packs and that it has a recess to allow for the thumbscrew to fit without interference Instructions Remove 2x M3 bolts and nuts and M5 bolt and nut from extruder block, find another M5 nut and snip a spiral battery contact spring from AA battery holder Print object (scrape, sand and re-drill holes if necessary) Optionally drill a hole through a new thumbscrew cap and assemble onto M5 bolt so you can use an allen key to tighten rather than your fingers Glue wide end of spring into recess (hot glue would be a good idea but be careful not to cover over the allen key hole!) Place 2x captive M5 nuts into slot with a bit of space from them to either side of the semi-cylindrical drill holes for the M3 bolts Screw M5 bolt into side of extruder block Once M5 is screwed in far enough slide printed object with spring over side of extruder block Line up holes on printed item with those for M3 bolts on extruder block and screw into place (if the screws do not bite well on the other side a drop of superglue should keep them in place) ???? Print unattended for hours
