Spring-Style Hose Clamp

Spring-Style Hose Clamp

This is modelled after the metal hose clamps you often see on lawn equipment to hold fuel lines in place. I've had a hard time finding a good source of those locally that will fit my fuel lines, so I decided to try modelling one out of plastic. The 10mm was the best fit for me. Being plastic, I don't know how long these will hold up or if they fit as tightly as the metal ones, but I put a couple of them on the fuel lines for my lawn tractor and so far they seem to be doing the job. At the very least they'll do in a pinch until you can find proper clamps. Mine were printed out of PETG, I assume PLA would be a bad choice for something like this as it tends to lose its shape when put under constant strain. The clamping force can be adjusted by making the band thicker or thinner. Note that if you make them too thick they will break instead of bending. One benefit of these over the metal ones is that they have larger grip areas so they're easier to use with your hands. No pliers required. There is a thin built-in support in the gaps. You will need to enable the "thin wall" option in your slicer as they are only .2 mm thick (or change the thickness while customizing the scad file). I cut them with a sharp utility knife. Just make sure you don't have any fingers in the way of the knife if it slips.
