SQ12 Lightweight Case

SQ12 Lightweight Case

Lightweight case for the Quelima SQ12 camera. Stock case is around 9 grams, this one is printed from TPU and saves at least 5 grams. The infrared LEDs are eliminated on this design. Camera is friction fit into this case via dense foam lens surround. I used foam from a random rc product packing material and cut a 20x20x8mm cube, dremeled a 7mm center hole, sliced the foam in half to fit around the lens "shaft". Battery is inserted into the back of the case and then the camera board/foam is carefully worked into the case. With TPU you can flex it to get around the sightly protruding "usb" connector jack. Note that you will need to install the micro memory card after camera install. The friction fit of the foam holds the assembly snug, but may come out with a hard crash. I put a hole at the back of the case to aid in removing the assembly, (pictures show a dremeled hole, stl file has the hole designed into it) note that you will be pushing on the battery so dont push too hard, I use a wood stir stick to help pry the camera board out while pushing from the back.. Again, be careful handing the camera guts, and pay extra attention to the ribbon, it is fragile. The microphone is sitting on the side of the foam, but can be tuck in behind the assembly if not needed, or removed. The mounting tab on the bottom is 17mm wide and 6mm tall. I mounted mine on a leader 120, you might need to edit this tab to suit your application. Since TPU can be hard to drill, I used a hot pin to poke a hole on the tab to accept a 2mm screw. FYI I used a different lens on this camera as the stock one has a bit of a whitewash. Have fun
