SR1 Stealth Recon Tank

SR1 Stealth Recon Tank

thingiverse

This is the first prototype of the experimental Stealth Reconnaissance Tank (SR1). Designed to have a low profile, with stealthy materials - this tank is able to avoid or delay detection - giving it an advantage on the modern battlefield. It has both active and passive sensors that detect incoming fire from anti tank missiles - allowing it to intercept (using its versatile "Zapper Mk1" defensive surface to air missiles) or avoid enemy fires. Where required, the Zapper missiles can also be used in a short to medium range surface-surface role. The tank is made from stealthy composites, and is heavily armoured beneath this. It also features a number of additional capabilities - such as air cooling of the tank body and diffusion of exhaust gasses - to reduce the IR signature. This is a large and heavy tank, and as such, has a long range, and storage capacity to the rear. The turret is automatic, and the magazine is buried deep within the tank - further enhancing safety. It uses a large howitzer gun, giving range and accuracy. This tank is scaled approximately 1/72, and for printing, is best scaled with a width of 6.5 cm (it may be worth expanding it vertically too, I've printed it and it is very flat (I've now uploaded a slightly taller version...!!) It can be printed as a single piece if stood on its rear end with minimum supports (though it is worth adding a few to the very rear part of the body - the auto supports miss this). I'd love to see any builds or modifications - happy printing! Edited - Still work to do on the tracks, but I have corrected the width so it actually prints..!
