Students will be working on creating a design in Morphi to create small pieces of clear 3D printed images with colored beads to design a stain glass design. Standards CCSS Overview and Background Students will be working on creating a design in Morphi to create small pieces of clear 3D printed images with colored beads to design a stain glass design. Lesson Plan and Activity Step 1: Introduction (5 mins.) History of Stain Glass - https://youtu.be/WInb5RgsahI Step 2: Creating with Morphi (include images) Using the iPad app Morphi, students will start with a rectangular base. Show the ruler tool and have them select inches so that it is sized to 2 inches. Show them how the slider works when you click on the shape to increase the size of your shape. After creating the rectangular base, students need to use the drawing part of the app to create an image that is colored in. Step 3: Exporting the Design (screenshots of process) Students will need to export the design for 3D printing from Morphi as an .stl file and share it with the teacher for final printing. Printing will take approximately 1 hour - 1.5 hours depending on the piece. Rafts: yes Supports: no Resolution: 0.2 mm Infill: 10% Step 4: Printing the Design As the honeycomb interior is built, you will pause the design about half way through to add beads. After adding the beads, you will resume the build. Double the size of the original .stl otherwise you will end up too small. If you want 2 colors, you can change the filament midway through.
