Stand for foldable solar panel - light and compact

prusaprinters

This is a stand for a foldable solar panel from aluminum tent rods. It is designed to be lightweight and compact, so that the stand can be easily taken on a trekking or bike trip. Also, I wanted it to be versatile in order to gain the maximum power out of the panel in outdoor conditions.

The panel may be as high as the length of one aluminum rod and as long as two rods (approx. 35 cm x 70 cm in my case). The stand tilts the panel about 20° upwards (perfect for setting it up around noon), and holds it in place. To support the panel at a degree of 70 ° (in the morning/evening), simply lean it against the other side.

Included is a crossbar to support panels that are wider than one aluminum rod. The crossbar may be positioned at the needed position.

The 3D model consists only of the joints. The actual stand is built with aluminum tent rods. The rods must be minimum 300 mm long (may be longer) and more importantly should have a diameter of about 8.5 mm to fit the joints perfectly. An offer containing 11 rods of 8,5mm diameter and 3,6 m combined length is available overseas. Each rod of this offer is about 340-360 mm long.
