this is as good as i can get it without having an original prop in my hands. i hope you like it. cura slice settings: 0.04 print 0.12 base layer concentric first layer (for asthetics) 100% fill (to make it sturdy) printing heat will depend on if you are using pla, petg, abs etc. for pla: 185 to 190 bed: 50 to 60 for petg: 240 bed: 60 to 70 support: 0 (if you print it flat on its back) support: 60 (if you stand it up to print it, it will have a more interesting texture but will be more brittle and easier to snap in half.) this took alot of time and trial and error to get just right. i think it looks better than the original props. but then again those were made from a mold that was hand cut by a person. this is made by a machine with modeling software. its going to look better as a result. why did i do this? because, its the most star trek thing a fan of trek can do: buy a replicator(3d printer) make their own replicator pattern for the thing they want (model up the thing in software on the computer) and then feed that pattern into their replicator(have the 3d printer do its thing) print in whatever material and color you like. i prefer to use a grey filament so that it is easier to paint. will need some cleanup post print with an exacto knife
