So i set about modeling a larger design that was as big as possible and still be printed in single pieces on my printer. That said i sliced several of the larger parts into pieces and welded them together so if i had failures I wouldn't loose as much work. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:327114 This is my first project with my 3D printer. I wanted to learn about the machine and how it works, what better way than to try something more complicated than I was comfortable with! I also wanted a project to use the raspberry pi so i could learn about it too. Boy has that been an adventure. This project currently is used as a decorative lamp that can connect to a render farm through the internet. It doesn't even have to be in the same building as the computers its deriving its speed from. The more rendering the machines are doing the faster it goes. All the source code, bill of materials for the metal and electronics components are available and open source. feel free to ask questions or make suggestions.
