This is LIN-V8K, the black dome mining droid from the sandcrawler droid sale scene in the original Star Wars movie. I have been generally not making droids that have action figures, but this guy has bothered me ever since the very nice figure was released. First of all, in most renditions of the droid, there is an arm sticking out of the dome, but the prop gives no evidence of the arm nor place for the arm to protrude. Second, the figure is tiny compared to the prop that was large enough for three jawas to stand behind it. I have designed this model to be scaled to the 3 3/4" figure line based upon the prop, not reinterpretations. My scale may still be a little small, but it is closer than the figure. The model is available both as a complete single object print, and as a kit that can be assembled like most of my others in case you want to print the dome in a nice smokey clear or black, and the rest in silver or gray. I have been teaching myself to 3D model by making figures of obscure droids from Star Wars. Requests are welcomed.
