So I just downloaded an awesome ATAT from timrbsnow my kids loved.. and then they asked where is the snow speeder to tie their legs? Worried sick that the empire would destroy the Hoth power generators too quickly for Han and Leia to make it out safely I bravely set out to design my own.. so I did my first non-mechanical design.. came out 90% well.. except for the front... then my kids, they were really excited cause they were going to put all the action figures inside the cockpit....cause yeah of course they assumed daddy's design wouldn't just be a dumb old plastic lump.. it would open up right? so of course I assured them it was cleverly designed to do just that and went back to the drawing board for a (theoretically) hinge in place opening cockpit snowspeeder.. will try to print this out tomorrow.. see how the hinge-in-place idea works out,,, Hopefully someone better than I can remix the front.. this is supposedly a supportless print (the cannons are supported but you will supposedly easily snap this out).. or it might be printable on its back... this is very loosely based on the originals and is limited by my ability with design software. If you download one don't be stingy and like it as well.... Update: Uploaded version 2 with much more detail and a better attempt at the front... Update2: Needed a bit of support under the cannons and the cockpit did not open..adressing both items in V3. Wil try to print it tonight... Update3..Cockpit opens with some struggle, patience and an exacto knife..however the hinge pins are tiny and do not hold. Will redesign the pins to make them bigger and diminish the support between the cockpit making it easier to separate. The relief and detail went from 1 to 2 mm and the result is awesome... supports on the guns makes them print out flawless. Also unless you are total idiot.. or were locked in a cave for the last 30 years you know I do not own or hold any rights on any star wars vehicle that resembles this one... nor do I in any manner pretend to,.. Just having some fun Disney no need to get bent out of shape over this.
