The unlovely Skyranger has the distinction of being one of the few spacecraft even designed and manufactured by a ground armored fighting vehicle corporation. Originally derived from a mag-lev ground attack ship, the AG-90 added improved spacefaring engines and other components which took her heavy, thickly armored hull into the blackness of space. Widely disliked as a NARS (not a real spacecraft) by pilots who prefer sleeker, more agile designs, the AG-90 gained a well deserved reputation among adherents as a dogged combatant capable of enduring punishment that would shatter lesser craft. The AG-90 is built around a Mjolnir-V type rotary cannon, supplemented by external ordnance hardpoints. The variable engine mounts cannot match the agility of a multi-thruster fighter, but allow the AG-90 excellent loiter time in gravity wells of any kind, making them excellent combat craft who own the battlespace of moons and asteroid theaters. The AG-92 version loses the massive nose cannon in exchange for a modest internal cargo bay. Initially intended to function as an assault troop carrier, the few AG-92 conversions were quickly outclassed by superior designs and sold off on the civilian market.
