Edit: 4/29/2022 - Added some images of the Starship Orbital Launch Pad i printed. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4961705 I scaled it to 63% so that if perfectly fits the BT-80 launchable rocket motor. Using the Launch lugs in this, i simply set the rocket in place, slid a rod down the lugs to mark the launch table for a hole and drilled it through. I ran it all the way through so when i actually launch from this pad, the rod can stick into the ground for strength. Printed the nose and base in Siraya Tech Fast resin, white colored. Sprayed primer on it, then taped it off for silver and black. I have some touchups left over to get after some smudges etc from assembly. But I have the Centering Rings for the motor mount Printed off, Also the Engine retainer is Printed. The Motor mount is for 24mm Motors (Estes D and E motors). The whole rocket assembled weighs in at 8.428 ounces, so with an E motor you can expect it to get somewhere near 700', meaning a D motor should be around 350' which arent very high up for $4-5 motors, but this should be a fun one to launch! The only thing not pictured, I took these photos before i attached the Launch Lug/Guide, those are painted black and on the heat shield side. Otherwise Just the Motor itself, and the recovery wadding to protect the parachute on ejection. Because this rocket will fly relatively low, i chose a "larger" 18" Parachute, I like to undersize my chutes to reduce drift at the cost of the impact speed. PRINTABLE PARTS: Starship-BT-80 Nosecone.stl - This is the only piece modified from the original authors version. I included some bracing at the bottom of the nose cone, So you can easily attach a Parachute and Shock cord to it. Starship_Mk3_Tail.stl - 100% identical to original BT-80_24mm-CenteringRing-RetainerKey.stl - Print 2 of these. (The tail of this print has an outer diameter of what the inner diameter would typically be, so you will need to sand these down a bit as they were designed to go in a traditional BT-80 24mm_Motor_Retainer_Part_A.stl - Print 1 of these 24mm_Motor_Retainer_Part_B.stl - Print 1 of these Launch-Lug_Large.stl - Minimum of 1 of these, suggest you use 2. (More if you want, depending on how tall you make the BT-80 tube in the middle) REFERENCES: Centering Rings: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5090853 24mm Motor Retention: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4058299 PURCHASED PARTS: BT-80 Tube (Body): https://www.apogeerockets.com/Building_Supplies/Body_Tubes/Low_Power_Tubes/66mm_x_18_Body_Tube_Estes_BT-80_size BT-50 Tube (24mm, Motor Mount): https://www.apogeerockets.com/Building_Supplies/Body_Tubes/Low_Power_Tubes/24mm_x_18_Body_Tube_Estes_BT-50_size D Motor Option (D12-3): Apogee: https://www.apogeerockets.com/Rocket_Motors/Estes_Motors/24mm_Motors/Estes_Motors_D12-3?cPath=7_264& HobbyLobby: https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Hobbies-Collecting/Rockets/D12-3-Model-Rocket-Engines/p/80959025 E Motor Option (E12-4): Apogee: https://www.apogeerockets.com/Rocket_Motors/Estes_Motors/24mm_Motors/Estes_Motors_E12-4?cPath=7_264& HobbyLobby: https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Hobbies-Collecting/Rockets/E12-4-Model-Rocket-Engines/p/23468 Shock Cord: Apogee: (Kevlar PN 30322): https://www.apogeerockets.com/Building_Supplies/Parachutes_Recovery_Equipment/Shock_Cord/Kevlar_Cord_100 Amazon: (Estes 302278): https://www.amazon.com/Estes-302278-Shock-Cords-Mount/dp/B001BHKAQK/ref=sr_1_1?crid=18E5O1P1FEL1K&keywords=Estes+shock+cord&qid=1644326688&sprefix=estes+shock+cord%2Caps%2C93&sr=8-1 Parachute 18": Apogee: https://www.apogeerockets.com/Building_Supplies/Parachutes_Recovery_Equipment/Parachutes/Low_Power/12in_15in_18in_Cut-to-Size_Plastic_Parachute HobbyLobby: https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Hobbies-Collecting/Rockets/Model-Rocket-Parachute/p/80959027 Recovery Wadding: Apogee: https://www.apogeerockets.com/Building-Supplies/Recovery-Equipment/Disposable-Wadding/Estes-Recovery-Wadding HobbyLobby: https://www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Hobbies-Collecting/Rockets/Model-Rocket-Recovery-Wadding-Sheets/p/21240 If you do make this, please share Makes on here or the original Authors page.
