In 1918, the US Army Corps of Engineers built a tank powered by steam, as many of the gas engines of the day were somewhat feeble. It was powered by two Doble steam engines generating 500 hp. It was armed with a flamethrower with a 90 ft range and 4 .30 cal machine guns. It was sent to France in mid-1918 for testing by the US Tank Commission. There it was named "America." The prototype was the only example built and is believed to have been scrapped in the 1930s. This model has been test printed.
