The immediacy of the Single Basket Lamp draws anyone's attention. Its essential form was developed by Stephen in a small basket weaving community outside of Thies, the second city of Senegal. Given the fact that all Senegalese sweetgrass baskets are uniquely woven in form, color and pattern from a collective memory passed down for generations, Stephen was the first in this community to teach the weavers to work from a drawing. The resulting iconic pendant lamp is available with and without a diffuser to showcase it's simple, yet beautiful pattern language and technique inside and out. Prototyped and developed as part of the Studio Museum exhibition, Stephen Burks Man Made, 2011. This model is Stephen Burks Man Made studio approved and is a precise replica of the real item.
