Stethoscope Holder for doctors and nurses

One day at work I met an anesthesiologist who had a nifty stethoscope holder and thought I should get one for myself. So, once home, I downloaded a few different designs, printed them and tried them out. Some stethoscope holders had clips which just didn’t properly grab the thin scrubs we have at work, others weren’t durable enough, and then there were those which didn’t fit my stethoscope. So, I made a few designs of my own. I prefer a stethoscope holder which can also hold a pencil light and a pen, but since some will prefer a simpler stethoscope holder, I’ve also included a version which will only hold a stethoscope. The regular stethoscope holder does not differentiate between which stethoscope binaural is furthest to the back, but if you opt for the heart shaped one you have to get used to attaching the stethoscope binaurals in a specific way, is easy enough after having tried it a few times. Both the regular holder and the heart fit my fairly standard sized Littmann Classic III stethoscope and my large Omron Sprague Rappaport model, but obviously I have not tested them with all available stethoscopes. The key to printing a durable stethoscope holder is to print the main body and the clip separately, and to print the clip lying on its side. Glue the two parts together using cyanoacrylate or epoxy glue. When it comes to cleaning the stethoscope holder, I’ve had one lying in a small tub of 85% isopropanol and another in a tub of regular 70% ethanol for two months – no apparent degradation. Just remember to not use alcohol with added glycerol or perfume, as it can lead to a buildup of gunk on the stethoscope holder. I like the regular stethoscope holder printed in simple white PLA or Eryone bronze PLA, and the heart stethoscope holder in Fillamentum PLA Extrafill Pearl Ruby Red.
