Stone Pendant Whole & Broken

Stone Pendant Whole & Broken

My daughter and I designed this stone pendant as a prop for her summer drama class production. They needed a "magic" stone that was somewhat nondescript but then breaks at the end of the story to stop the evil magic that has been causing all of the turmoil. The pendant has a "whole" stone version and separate pieces for the broken one. The same "setting" is used in both styles of print. This could be used as a magic trick with sleight of hand for an illusion of breaking and/or fixing the necklace. I also included "No Gap" models so it could be printed as a tri-color stone that doesn't fall apart. I haven't tried that yet, but I included a screenshot as an example. The setting hangs on a chain with the attached loop, but the pendant does have a tendency to turn. We designed a jump ring with a 0.5 mm slit that opens enough to get it around the ring on the setting. See photos. We used PLA. A stiffer material might not bend as well. Originally designed and printed in the larger size with the purple and gold, the cast decided they would like something smaller and in black and white. Rather than rescaling the print since that would make the gaps between broken pieces too small, I edited the original design to create a second size. All models are included in regular and smaller sizes. I printed the unbroken pendant with dual extrusion, but it could be printed with single extrusion and one filament swap.
